Southeastern Freight Lines (SEFL)
- SEFL doesn't return third party prepaid rates for pickup points outside of their service area, i.e. shipments being picked up by their partner carriers. To handle this, if SEFL doesn't return a quote for third party prepaid, we try quoting it again as third party collect. This accomplishes the same thing as changing the ratio button on their website quote form from prepaid to collect. The bill is still sent to the broker. (Collect does not mean they're going to collect payment from someone else. It just means they're pricing it from the perspective of the destination instead of the origin.)
- When we ask SEFL for a volume quote, if they don't want to provide one for the shipment, then they return their standard (tariff-based) rate instead. Sometimes we can tell the difference, and we suppress those "volume" quotes. And if we receive an interline "volume" quote from them, we discard it.
- For volume-size shipments — that is, where a total length was entered on the quote form — we do not attempt to quote as third party collect. To see a (really expensive) third party collect quote for SEFL, remove the total length and update quotes.
- SEFL requires piece count to quote the sort & segregate accessorial, but we don't capture piece count until booking, so we don't support these quotes today.
- SEFL does not make residential pickups.
- SEFL doesn't return live quotes for convention center/trade show pickups or deliveries.
- SEFL's
Notify Before Delivery
accessorial is the equivalent of other carriers' delivery appointments. If you ask for quotes with delivery appointments, you'll get a SEFL quote with an delivery notification charge.
